VOs Technical Decommissioning¶

DESY has been hosting a for several years VOMS server for managing VOs (Virtual Organizations). These technical VOs have been used for managing users' access to grid proxy certificates. As with the migration from CentOS7 to RHEL9 in autumn 2024 the VOMS server infrastructure has been decommissioned, the technical VOs hosted at DESY have not been in use for Grid workflows. As such, we will officially decommission the technical VOs in Q3 2026. The decommissioning of the technical VOs is primarily a administrative task with respect to the EGI VO details and consists of announcing the decommissioning a few weeks in advance followed by the actual removal from the EGI VO list.

2026.Q3: clean up of packages with VO details available for RHEL-flavored Linux distributions
